In addition to an enduring interest in the primary topic of the wiki, I have extensive experience with the Mediawiki engine and many projects which use it, motivated mostly from the fact that I find it very enjoyable work as a whole. I've always enjoyed writing for its own sake and this is a particularly purposeful way in which to do it, but even more I enjoy the "gardening" that is necessary for any successful wiki. These are tasks like creating and improving templates, codifying standard page layouts and writing styles, categorizing existing pages and even, when absolutely necessary, pruning things which don't serve as something others could build on. I hold administrator and/or bureaucrat permissions at several large, public wikis and am very familiar with the toolset and have learned through experience when and when not to make use of them. I hope to be able to put this knowledge and interest to work here for the benefit of readers and fellow editors, sharing what I know freely and learning from them in kind.
