- Externals links for title and chapter
- The title of the cited publication can be linked:
- If there is a one-on-one relationship between the publication named in the
titleparameter and an English Wikipedia article, e.g.:|title=The LiederNet Archive|title=Johann Sebastian Bach: His Work and Influence on the Music of Germany
- Alternatively, the wikilink can be defined separately—without paired square brackets—using the
title-linkparameter:|title=The LiederNet Archive+|title-link=The LiederNet Archive|title=Johann Sebastian Bach: His Work and Influence on the Music of Germany+|title-link=Spitta's Johann Sebastian Bach
- Deep links are also possible:
|title=Becker Psalter|title=Becker Psalter+|title-link=wikipedia:List of compositions by Heinrich Schütz#Becker Psalter
- Links can be made to sister projects and other wiki-linkable sites as well:
|title=Grundlage einer Ehren-Pforte|title=Ueber Johann Sebastian Bachs Leben, Kunst und Kunstwerke+|title-link=wikisource:de:Ueber Johann Sebastian Bachs Leben, Kunst und Kunstwerke
- If there's no appropriate wikilink target, use the
urlparameter to create an external link to a web page that has the content indicated by the title, giving preference to those that- give clutter-free access to the entire publication

- Using
|title=Symphony No. 4, "Tragic", D. 417 – Symphony in C (Grand Duo, D. 812, orch. Joachim)as an example:|url=https://www.chandos.net/chanimages/Booklets/NA3095.pdfis a better link than|url=https://www.naxos.com/mainsite/blurbs_reviews.asp?item_code=8.553095&catNum=553095&filetype=About%20this%20Recording&language=Englishas this alternative link does not have the full, referenced content, does not mention the author and has no page numbers
- Using
- Similarly, for linking a chapter named in the
chapterparameter (combines withchapter-linkandchapter-urlparameters for internal and external links, respectively):|chapter=Franz Schubert’s letzte Compositionen+|chapter-link=wikisource:de:Seite:Gesammelte Schriften über Musik und Musiker Bd.2 (1854).pdf/234is a better link target than|chapter-url=https://archive.org/details/SchumannGesammelteSchriften1854B2/page/n233as a link to a free archival project which transcribes the Gothic script and provides links to topics is preferable to an external link, and likely to be more stable.
- If there is a one-on-one relationship between the publication named in the
