Receptive

The term receptive is typically used to refer to females who are willing to accept sexual advances.

Most animals are known to become very receptive during their heat periods, although this is not always the case and some females will refuse mating, whether with an incredibly prized stud or her human ‘owner’. Despite this, there are some females (especially those who are experienced) which are receptive regardless of their current state of fertility.

It is reported fairly frequently that a female animal may bond to a human partner and sexually signal to him while refusing males of her own species! This behavior occurs much less often in male animals, probably because they receive more evolutionary benefit from having many partners and offspring rather than simply selecting the ‘best’ female.
