This is a documentation subpage for Template:R from short name. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Usage
Use this rcat template in any namespace.
- This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from short names and, when used to tag articles in mainspace, Category:Unprintworthy redirects. At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make a printed version of the full Wikipedia encyclopedia, and shortened forms of article names are not suitable for a printed version. In other words, such redirects are considered unprintworthy.
- Add this rcat to a redirect page in the following manner:
#REDIRECT [[Target page name]] {{R from short name}}
- This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.
- Template {{This is a redirect}} may also be used to add this and up to six appropriate rcats to a redirect.
- Use this redirect template for a title that is a shortened form of a full article title or a shorter form of a person's full name.
- For incomplete names and titles, such as "East End", use the template {{R from incomplete name}} instead.
- For abbreviations and initialisms, such as "UN", use {{R from initialism}} instead.
