Template:R from short name/doc

Usage

Use this rcat template in any namespace.

• This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from short names. Add this rcat to a redirect page in the following manner:

#REDIRECT [[(target page name)]]

• Template {{This is a redirect}} may also be used to add up to seven appropriate rcats to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. Add it to a redirect in the following manner:

#REDIRECT [[(target page name)]]

Note: {{Redr}} is an alias for the This is a redirect template.

This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.

• Use this redirect template for a title that is a shortened form of a full article title or a shorter form of a person's full name. Also use for incomplete names and titles, such as "East End".
• For abbreviations and initialisms, such as "UN", use {{R from initialism}} instead (unless the initials redirect to a person's name – then use this template, R from short name).
• At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make a printed version of the full Wikipedia encyclopedia. Some rcats will automatically place a redirect in either Category:Printworthy redirects or Category:Unprintworthy redirects. Other rcats (like this one, for example) do not, which means that it is up to editors to choose which of those categories, Printworthy or Unprintworthy, is appropriate and should be populated. The rcats that are used separately to populate those categories are:
