This is a documentation subpage for Template:R to redirect template. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
This template should not be substituted nor used to tag soft redirects. |
Usage
This rcat template is usually used on template pages; however, it can be used in any namespace.
- This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects to redirect templates when placed on a template page. If placed on a page in any other namespace, then it will populate Category:Redirects to template from non-template namespace instead. If it is placed on a main-article namespace (mainspace) page, then it will also populate Category:Unprintworthy redirects by default. At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make more printed versions of Wikipedia encyclopedia articles. Redirects in mainspace that target pages in template namespace are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy.
- Add this rcat to a redirect page in the following manner:
#REDIRECT [[Template:(target page name)]] {{R to redirect template}}
- This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.
- {{This is a redirect}} may also be used to add this and up to seven appropriate rcats to a redirect.
- Use this rcat on all redirects that target redirect category (rcat) templates.
