- This template will categorise tagged articles into Category:Articles lacking sources.
- This template is a self-reference], and as such should be placed on Talk Pages per the guideline on No self-references within wikipedia. (Please note the debate failed consensus on Template talk:Unreferenced, and peruse carefully before using).
- This template is not useful for Zoophilia Wiki:Subst.
- There is currently no consensus about where to place this template (Re: Talk debates); most agree either the bottom of the article page (in an empty 'References' section), or on the article's talk page.
- In conjuction with the dicotomy with the guideline Zoophilia Wiki:Avoid self-references] and the vote on this talk, occurences in the heading of articles should be relocated immediately to one of those two places.
- This template should not be used with stubs.
- If the external links section includes a references section, this template should not be used.
