This template can be placed at the top of any category page for which it is normal that it sometimes is empty. This is typical for some maintenance, tracking and clean-up categories.
Experience has shown that people sometimes delete those categories, thinking they are no longer in use.
This template is also intended to be used to prevent these categories from being listed at Wikipedia:Database reports/Empty categories.
Options
- Adding <syntaxhighlight lang="text" class="" id="" style="" inline="1">|hide=true</syntaxhighlight> makes the template invisible.
- Adding <syntaxhighlight lang="text" class="" id="" style="" inline="1">|until=June 2017</syntaxhighlight> makes it alright to delete if empty beyond the until date (for use with dated categories)
