Usage
Use this Rcat template in any namespace.
- This redirect category (Rcat) template populates Category:Redirects for convenience. Add this Rcat to a redirect page in the following manner:
#REDIRECT [[Target page name]] {{R for convenience}}
- This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.
- Template {{This is a redirect}} may also be used to add this and other appropriate Rcats to a redirect.
- Use this Rcat on redirects that that are only intended to make it easier to get to the targeted page. That is, this is a redirect from a title that is another name, a pseudonym, a nickname, or a synonym as is used colloquially, but is not currently an officially accepted term, though it may have been at one time. This redirect leads to the title in accordance with naming conventions for common names and can help with searches and writing.
- At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make a printed version of the full Wikipedia encyclopedia. Some Rcats will automatically place a redirect in either Category:Printworthy redirects or Category:Unprintworthy redirects. Other Rcats (like this one, for example) do not, which means that it is up to editors to choose which of those categories, Printworthy or Unprintworthy, is appropriate and should be populated. The Rcats that are used separately to populate those categories are the following:
