Barclays Shared Services (BSS) BSS is a 100% subsidiary of Barclays Bank PLC, which is a leading global financial services group, with a strong presence in Europe, the USA, Africa and Asia. Barclays has over 155,000 colleagues worldwide and has a global customer base of over 48 million. BSS is a key part of the global vision for Barclays and provides operations support & services to businesses within Global Retail Banking and Barclays Corporate. portal.
Company history
About Us
Barclays Shared Services (BSS)started operations in 2007. In just over two years it has grown significantly and now employs over 3600 people across three sites handling a wide range of processes for Retail, Commercial and Credit Card businesses. The bank supports the significant growth & development plans in the next three years.
Our Sites:
Two are in Noida (New Delhi) and one is in Chennai. It also has a branch in the UK, operating out of the Barclays headquarters at 1 Churchill Place, London.

Our People:We have a young, dynamic and enthusiastic workforce with the average age of 27. Most of our colleagues are graduates and our gender ratio is broadly 60% male and 40% female. Community
In 2008, Barclays invested £52.2m in Community projects around the world and supported more than 57,000 colleagues in 31 countries to get involved with community activities, through volunteering and matched fundraising. A core element of being a responsible global citizen is our investment in charities, in order to deliver value to the communities where we operate.
BSS is proud of its involvement with a number of charities. This year we have launched a new payroll giving scheme called Gift a Smile and a volunteering programme, b:Volunteer.
Gift a Smile
Gift a Smile is our payroll giving programme that reflects the spirit of the Barclays global Community investment philosophy, 'Charity begins at work', at the heart of which is the desire to provide colleagues with the opportunity to get involved with the causes they care about most.
b:Volunteer This is a programme that is run to support the local Community. One of the charities we support under this programme is Social Outreach Foundation, a non-profit organisation that promotes and supports educational and developmental efforts for underprivileged children.
