After completing his entire primary and secondary education at Union College, Tellipplaiiai, Sri Lanka in 1957, he pursued his Pre-University Course at His Highness the Rajah’s College, Pudukkotai, Tamil Nadu. He completed his B.Sc. in 1963 at Dr. Alagappa College, Karaikudi, which was then affiliated to the University of Madras.

The Academic Board mandated by the International Council of CCLP Worldwide under the International Treaty signed with Consortium Universities Euro-American has elected him as a Fellow Chartered Educator (FCE) for his contribution to the field of Education and Research.

Besides being a Fellow Chartered Educator (FCE), he is also a Member of the World Education Research Association and a Member of CCLP Worldwide. In addition to having access to the United Nations and European Parliament, another privilege of being a Fellow Chartered Educator is that UNECOSOC consultative status allows to register the designated members for UN events.
 
Very stringent academic and professional qualifications, including at least a Master’s Degree and relevant work experience, are some of the requisites for fellowship.
 
In 1993 he was elected a Fellow of the College of Preceptors (London), now known as the College of Teachers, which was incorporated by Royal Charter of Queen Victoria in 1849. The fellowship is awarded to individuals who hold high academic qualifications or who have made a significant contribution to educational literature.
 
He completed many qualifications in education, including the Associate of the College of Preceptors (ACP); Certificate in the Teaching of English as a Second Language (Massey University); Teacher’s Diploma in Commerce (Faculty of Teachers in Commerce Limited); University Teaching (Coursera) offered by Johns Hopkins University; Certificate in ESOL Home Tutoring (National Association of ESOL Home Tutor Schemes Inc. and Basic Adult Tutor Training (Auckland Schools Community Education Association).
 
His Cambridge University English Teacher membership for three years helped him improve the four aspects of English Language teaching.
 
 
Management
 
He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Management Specialists in 1992. The Institute of Management Specialists (IMS) is a United Kingdom-based professional qualification awarding body. The academic qualification required for fellowship is a Master’s Degree in Management.
 
Besides his postgraduate degree, he also holds diplomas in Project Management, Human Resources, Customer Service, Hospitality Management, Business Management and Entrepreneurship, Operations Management and Workplace Safety and Health.
 
He completed Administration, Organizations, Economics and Management at Graduate Diploma Level.
 
He acquired the New Zealand Institute of Management Certificate in Management in 2017 which is a nationally recognized program.
 
Linguistics
 
He is also a professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguistics (MCIL) (London) which received its Royal Charter in 2005. Linguistics is connected to any discipline concerned with human communication, languages and literature, as well as anthropology, artificial intelligence, human biology, philosophy, psychology and sociology.

Tamil Language and Literature
 
Apart from offering Tamil as a subject under part two for his degree, he received a Certificate of Achievement in 1962 from “Manavar Mantram” for passing Tamil with flying colors in the examination conducted for the final year degree candidates.
 
He was the recipient of “SENTHAMIL KALAI SEMMAL” (Great Scholar in Tamil) award
in the International Research Conference held in New Delhi in 2008 for his contribution to Tamil Literature. This prestigious award was conferred on him in recognition of his work, including translation of several Tamil books into English since the past four decades.

He was also the recipient of “Senthira Tamil Selvar” award in 2007 from the Arts and Literature Circle Trust, Auckland, New Zealand, which was presented to him for his invaluable service to Tamil and to the wider community. His articles have appeared in international journals and magazines.
 
World Poetry Movement
 
He is an Associate Life Member of the Poetic Society (India). His poems have appeared in magazines, newspapers, academic journals and websites.
 
He is a member of the World Poetry Movement, which has 1,307 poets from 138 countries. There are 11 poets from Australasia, of whom four members are from New Zealand.
 
 
Physical Education
 
He was elected a Professional Coach of the International Coach Federation (ICF) in 2011. Because of his good performance in athletics and games during his college and university days, coupled with his sound knowledge of physical education, he was admitted as an Associate Member of the Asian Track and Field Coaches’ Association in 1974.
 
He was one of the few people from Asia to be invited to attend the Congress on ‘Experiences of the Track and Field Events from the Olympic Games of Montreal 1976’, organized by the International Track and Field Coaches’ Association in 1977.
 
He holds a Diploma in Physical Education, a Diploma in Coaching and a Diploma in Outdoor Physical Education Studies, Sports and Recreation Management. 
 
He was the recipient of a prestigious award from John Paul II in 1993 for promoting sport nationally and internationally.
 
 
 
Public Health
 
 
Thilliar Varnakulasingham, has been elected a Retired Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine recently . The Royal Society of Medicine was established in 1805 and granted a Royal Charter by His Majesty King William IV in 1834.
 
 
He is elected a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSP) recently. To apply for Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria: Educated to Post Graduate level or equivalent from an academic institution or recognized professional body and a career commitment to the improvement of population health and/ or wellbeing.
 
 
The RSPH is the longest established public health organization in the United Kingdom. It is incorporated by Royal Charter. The members are academics, health professionals and practitioners who share an interest in promoting health through their daily work and come together through the RSH membership to provide crosscutting, multidisciplinary perspectives on the current health questions.
 
 
He is an Official Ambassador for the American Sexual Health Association. He is a Certified Sexologist of the American College of Sexologists (International). An ACS Certified Sex Educator will have credentials that qualify them to offer instruction, training and education in the field of human sexuality and sexology.
 
 
 
 
 
On completing his Diploma in Homeopathic Science, he joined the British Homeopathic Association in 1998.The holistic nature of homeopathy means that each person is treated as a unique individual and their body, mind, spirit and emotions are all considered in the management and prevention of diseases.
 
He was a Member of the New Zealand Sports Medicine for three years. Admission to the body as a full member is reportedly an honor. It was bestowed in recognition of his contributions, to sports, health, alternative medicine and physical education for several years.
 
He was an Associate of the Faculty of Public Health in 2005 and 2006. The Faculty of Public Health (FPH) is a public health association in the United Kingdom. It is the standard setting body for public health specialists within the United Kingdom, and sets standards for training, examination and specialist practice across the four countries of the UK. It is also a source of knowledge and guidance around public health, and advocates for public health, both nationally and globally. It was set up as a joint, autonomous faculty from the three Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (London, Edinburgh and Glasgow).

Engineering and Technology
 
His experience in working as a facilitator on a part-time basis for Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd helped him to obtain many professional and academic qualifications in engineering and technology. He was elected a: Graduate of Traffic Administration (UK) in 1980; Graduate of Transport Administration (UK 1981) and Member of the Institute of Petroleum (London 1992).
 
He was elected: an Associate Member of IRTE (London 2006); an Associate Member of the Society of Engineers (2006) and a Member of the International Association of Engineers in 2014.

He holds a degree in science. He was a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry (MNZIC) and the Royal Society of New Zealand (MNSNZ).

He successfully completed a course in Drama in Education (with distinction) and he is entitled to use the letters SAC Dip (Drama in Education) after his name.
 
He is a Founder Member of the Auckland Academy of Fine Arts, which is affiliated with the Academy of Fine Arts (London). Besides being a member of the International Shakespeare Association, which maintains liaison with UNESCO and other international organizations, he completed a course on “Shakespeare and his World” offered by the University of Warwick.

His RTS Futures Membership to the Royal Television Society, London, helped him to comprehend certain technical information easily.
 
He pursued an online course on Directing from Film School created by NYU veteran production supervisor Lou LaVolpe. He also followed an online filmmaking course from the Production-now.com film school.
 
He joined the Stanford online Learning and Research Community to complete courses on "Adventures in Writing" and 'Ten Pre-modem Poems by Women.'
 
He was registered at the 'Cambridge in Color Forums,' a learning community for photographers. He completed a course on 'The Art of Photography' and 'The Art of Drawing and Painting.'
 
He completed courses on 'The American South: Its Stories, Music and Art' and 'Art and Inquiry: Museum Teaching Strategies for Your Classroom.'

He obtained the ‘Justice of the Peace: Judicial Studies  Certificate’ awarded by the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand and the Royal Federation of New Zealand Justices Association Inc. after successfully completing the course conducted by the Open Polytechnic of  New Zealand.
 
This particular qualification enables him to apply for training as a justice in the district court system.
 
The course, accords the justice’s sound knowledge of court protocols and procedures, enabling them to take decisions in accordance with legal requirements, rules of natural justice and deliver verdicts appropriately to the concerned case and circumstances.
 
He was an Associate Member of LAWASIA, an international organization of lawyers’ associations, individual lawyers, judges, legal academics and others. It focuses on the interests and concerns of the legal profession in the Asia-Pacific region.
LAWASIA holds consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, observer status with the World Intellectual Property Organization and operational status with the UNESCO.

He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 197l; Society of Commercial Teachers in 1979; British Society of Commerce in 1987; Faculty of Teachers in Commerce in 1983; and Institute of Business Administration in 1992.

He was elected a Graduate Member (Grad MAMSA) of the Managing & the Marketing, Sales Association in 1991 for achieving a Diploma in Sales Marketing and a Diploma in Salesmanship.
 
The MAMSA, which was established in 1860, is an international specialist organization in professional, sales, marketing & management development. He was elected an Associate of the Institute of Freight Forwarders in 1991. He also completed diploma courses in Sales Management, Marketing Management and Strategic Management.

He followed a number of courses in Astronomy and Cosmology. These include Astronomy: Discovering the Universe, Astronomy and Space and Astronomy –Start of the art.

He was admitted a member of the National Space Society of Australia. The mission statement says, “To promote change in social, technical, economic and political conditions to advance the day when people live and work in space.” The vision statement is “A Space-faring Civilization with people living and working in thriving communities beyond Earth.”

He was admitted a Member of the International Institute of Social Economics in 1991.

Archaeology
He was elected an Associate Member of the Royal Archaeological Institute (London) in 2009.
The Royal Archaeological Institute (RAI) is a leading national archaeology society, with its inception dating back to 1844. Its interests span all aspects of the archaeological, architectural and landscape history of the British Isles.
 
Through the annual publication of the Archaeological Journal and the program of monthly lectures, the RAI has a strong tradition of presenting their archaeological research. The RAI also gives grants to enable research projects, host conferences and run specialist tours for the members to archaeological sites, historic buildings and landscapes.

Both these organizations provided leadership in the broadly defined field of peace, conflict and justice studies.
The PJSA also serves as a professional association for scholars in the field of peace and conflict resolution studies.
 
He is a member of the: International Association for the Cognitive Science of Religions; International Council of CCLP Worldwide, International Society for Education through Art; Auckland Justices of the Peace Association Inc.; Secret Society of Happy People; the World Peace Prayer Society; and the United Nations Public Administration Network. He subscribes to the Fuji Declaration. He became a United Nations Volunteer in 20016 and followed Udemy’s course on Best practices for volunteering.

He is an Associate Member of the International Association of Innovation Professionals (IAOIP) which is the world’s only innovation certification body, providing members with the knowledge, skills and opportunities to deliver real change in their industry or field.
 
He is subscribed to London Innovation Society which was founded by a group of academics and doctoral researchers to organize activities that will foster innovation, enable economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability and human development. He focuses on innovation in teaching, learning and leadership.
 
He signed up with the Global Innovation Institute to get interesting innovation news and updates. The Global Innovation Institute is dedicated to all the brilliant innovative minds, besides being a place that brings together ideas, and people and a lab to create, test, experiment and succeed.
 
With UNDP Innovation Facility, he is subscribed to Innovation for Development Community Newsletter. He completed Diplomas in:” Social Work Studies”, “Sociology” and “Delivering Community Development”.
 
His innovative article on “Climate Change” appeared without any abridgement in the Carbon Capture Report which is one of the world’s premiere sources of daily news and public perception reports of carbon capture and sequestration, climate change, and the energy sector around the world.
 
Based on more than a decade of research on global information discourse, the Carbon Capture Report has become the “go-to: resource for governments, companies, environmental groups, law firms, venture capitalists, researchers and even private citizens with subscribers in more than 120 countries. Besides being a great lover of magic, he has staged many magic shows in Auckland. He received several congratulatory messages for his outstanding performance. He is a Life Member of the International Magicians Society which is the largest magic organization as listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The IMS began in 1968 and now has over 41,000 members worldwide. It was created to help promote and preserve the art of magic and provide a format where magicians could share their secrets and ideas.

Criminology
 
He offered courses on “Crime, Justice and Society” and ” Cyber Security”, offered by FutureLearn. Religion and Spiritualism
 
He is a member of the International Association for the Cognitive Science and Religion. IACSR is an affiliate of the International Association for the History of Religions. He is also a friend of the Aetherius Society which is an international scientific spiritual organization and the single greatest aspect of the society’s teachings is the importance of selfless service to others.
 
He has studied almost all world religions for many years. In his book on “Extolling the Glory of Lord Muruga”, he has cited several examples where science and religion go hand in hand. His religious articles were published in international journals.
 
He created history at the Emmaus Correspondence School in Victoria, Melbourne by completing 20 courses on biblia with “excellence” in all within a record time.

He worked for 34 years and 5 months at St. Michael’s School, Seria, Brunei Darussalam- Sports Director for 10 years; Science Teacher for approximately 10 years; Deputy Principal for 5 years and Principal for 10 years.
 
He performed casual work at many institutions including St. Angela’s Convent School, Seria, Brunei Darussalam for 2 years; Adult Education Centre Seria, Brunei Darussaam 12 years ; Brunei Shell Petroleum Technical Training Centre for 5 years; LNG (Brunei) Technical Training Centre for 2 years; Auckland University as Exam Supervisor ) and for 12 years; Police Volunteer (NZ Police) for 3 years and 6 months).

He is the author of: “The Sociological Concepts or the Science of the Human Society as Portrayed in Tolkappiam”, “Selections from Tirukkural: Pearls from the Ocean of Universal Wisdom”, “Glimpses of Tamil Wisdom”, “Synopsis of Silapatikaram”, “The Glory and Antiquity of Tamil”, “Ancient Wisdom” and “The Glory of Lord Muruga”.
Being a bilingual with degree level knowledge in English and Tamil, he has composed several poems in both the languages.
 
His book on “Who Owns the Indus Valley Civilization?” is used in many public libraries as a reference book.
He authored ‘Quiz in Chemistry for BJCE’, ‘Quiz in Chemistry for GCE (OL)’, ‘Quiz in Physics for BJCE’, ‘Quiz in Biology’ and ‘Metrication’. He is the author of ‘Elements of Commerce for BJCE.’
 
 
 
Honors & Awards:
 
(1) He was awarded the Membership of Massey University Alumni for his long-standing association with the university, since 1971 He was nominated for the 2002 Massey University Council election. His biography is included in the Marquis Who’s Who in the World 2015. He received a perpetual learner award in 2016 for his overwhelming educational services globally.
 
 
(2) “Vishwa Dharma Prasaar Yaatra” (Global Holy Peace Mission)) sponsored by the Global Leaders of the Indian Diaspora, honored him in Auckland in 2003. About 3,000 people attended the function.
 
 
(3) He received a Voluntary Recognition Community Award from Tamaki Community Board in 2004.
 
(4) He received a Multicultural Community Award for his community work in New Zealand and Australia from the Indian Brisbane Times in 2006.
 
 
(5) He was the recipient of a Good Citizen Award from Hobson Community Board in 2006.
 
 
(6) He received “Senthira Tamil Selvar” Award (Scholar in Tamil and Great Community Leader) from the Arts and Literary Circle of New Zealand in 2007.
 
 
(7) He received the “Senthamil Kalai Semmal” (Great Scholar in Tamil) Award at the International Research Conference held in New Delhi in 2008 for his contribution to Tamil.
 
 
(8) He received a Multicultural Community Award (Second Time) for his volunteer work in New Zealand and Australia from the Brisbane Indian Times in 2008.
 
 
(9) Achievers’ Award – Asthma and Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand -2008
 
 
(10) Certificate of Recognition for being the President of the New Zealand Thirumurgan Temple Society for 8 consecutive years -2009
