Usage

Templates in the "Don't edit this line xxx" family are used to extract information from a taxonomy template (i.e. a template whose name is of the form {{Taxonomy/taxon}}). They are invoked by calling a taxonomy template with |machine code=xxx, since the first line of every taxonomy template begins with <nowiki>{{Don't edit this line |…. They are intended only for use by the automated taxobox system, and are mostly used from within the Autotaxobox Scribunto Lua module.

• {{Don't edit this line link text}} – returns the value of:
  1. the first unnamed/positional parameter, or
  2. |link=, if none are present

• {{Don't edit this line dagger}} – returns a value of:
  1. † if extinct, otherwise
  2. a null string
• {{Don't edit this line always display}}
• {{Don't edit this line refs}}
• {{Don't edit this line same as}}
• {{Don't edit this line all}} – returns parent$rank$link_target$unnamed parameter$always_display$extinct$same_as$refs
