Mate
Mating is the term used for sexual activity between two animals and refers almost exclusively to incidents of vaginal sex. If two individuals have mated before (especially if they are in a monogamous relationship) they are said to be mates.
When two animals mate, they may be doing it either because it is the fertile period or – in some cases – simply due to arousal, boredom, or habit. Mating usually occurs between two members of the same species but even in the wild, interspecies sex can and does take place.
Deriving sexual pleasure from watching animals mating is known as mixoscopic zoophilia.
