The star on a Zoo Pride flag is generally interpreted to symbolize the uniqueness and individuality of each person within the zoophile community. It represents the diversity of identities and experiences among those who identify as zoophiles. The star can also be seen as a symbol of hope and aspiration within their community.

The colors mean a few things. The simplest being land/earth, water, and sky.

The long winded meaning

  1. Green: Represents the natural environment and the animal kingdom. It symbolizes the zoophile's connection to nature and their appreciation for animals.
  2. Brown: Symbolizes the natural world and earthiness. It reinforces the zoophile's affinity with animals and their place within the ecosystem.
  3. Blue: Represents affection and emotional connection. It symbolizes the zoophile's love and care for animals, often expressed through emotional bonds.
  4. White: Symbolizes purity and innocence. It can represent the sincerity and genuine nature of the feelings zoophiles may have towards animals.

These colors convey themes of love, respect, and connection to animals.

I should note that interpretations of these colors may vary slightly among individuals or specific groups within the community.

The first version of the ZETA flag, without the star, was created during a project run by a Twitter ZETA activist KZ in spring of 2020.

Origins

The first Zoo flag in 2016

This flag was made at some point before June 24, 2016, by a feline therian and a furry artist. A permission to share her username hasn't yet been obtained. But, according to one of her posts, the colors of the flag represent genders of the zoos: blue stands for binary male and female genders, white stands for genders outside of the binary spectrum, and purple stands for nonbinary genders on the male/female spectrum.

It was uploaded to DeviantArt by a user ZooFlags, an aego-zoosexual and zooromantic trans demigirl therian. The date of upload is June 24, 2016. For a long time ZooFlags was considered the original creator of this flag.[2][3]

Influence

This flag became the most popular flag out of all uploaded by ZooFlags and is used by zoos in artwork and on social media profiles. A Twitter blogger ZooStruggles erroneously claimed this flag to represent pro-contact zoophiles, while no such thing was specified by the original artist.

The first version of the ZETA flag, without the star, was created during a project run by a Twitter ZETA activist KZ in spring of 2020. In mid April he made several polls about the potential flag design[4][5], and his followers voted. On May 3 he announced a version that won[6]. According to his explanation[7], the brown color represents land animals, the green represents avians, reptiles & amphibians, and the blue represents marine life. The exact hues of the flag were chosen by SteelDogTuscy, another Twitter blogger. The four pointed star was an initiative of another Twitter user, KometSF, who proposed it in reference to four-legged animals[8]. Coloring it white indicates purity[9].
